Cooking Academy 3.2 is a simple and entertaining game for those who enjoy cooking and are interested in learning new recipes, tips and curiosities about the ingredients, while enjoying leisure. The game takes place within a cooking academy to which you register to learn cooking more than 50 recipes of different types: appetizers, breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert. Each of these types of cuisine is a level of the game, which you can access if you have passed the examination of previous levels.
Each of these levels includes a set of small sequential games that, as well as entertaining you, will show you cooking techniques, such as cutting and chopping, kneading, frying, baking, preparing stuffing and arming pasta, among many others.
You’ll start playing by the initial level, cooking appetizers. Then, you’ll get a recipe to be prepared. To do so, you’ll go conducting an activity for each ingredient to include or step to pursue. Each activity will require your skills with the mouse and, through the virtual game, you’ll learn tricks for real cooking (how to chop an onion, how to fold the pasta to assemble creppes, what cooking temperatures are appropriate, etc.). Likewise, as you move from one step to the next, you’ll receive information on ingredients or techniques that you’ll be using. Each of these steps will be adding points to your score, which define whether you can access the next level or not.

This game is entertaining if, in addition to playing, you are interested in knowing recipes or cooking tips. Otherwise, it can result too simple and somewhat routine. The graphical environment is pleasant and very easy to handle, although there aren’t dazzling visual and audio developments. One of the main disadvantages is that it is not allowed to choose the recipes you want to cook or to jump levels if the tests haven’t been conducted properly.
The free version is complete in terms of the game but you have to interrupt it to see sponsors notices, and you will have only 60 minutes to play. If you want to play longer, you must access the full licensed version, which costs $ 19.99.
In addition, when you download the installer you may be surprised by the size of it, only 1.2 MB. However, you won’t be so glad finding out that this is not the full installer and when executed, requires Internet connection to finish lowering components and install the game completely.

Advantages:

  • It’s a lightweight game which doesn’t demand great system requirements (256 MB RAM and 32 MB video)
  • It includes information about ingredients and cooking techniques.
  • Virtual practices are a graphical assistance to cook for real.

Disadvantages:

  • Free version is only available for 60 minutes.
  • The free download is for an executable file which will take internet connection to download the actual installer.
  • It doesn’t allow choosing recipes or jumping between levels.
  • It’s somewhat easy and routine.
